Q:

What are the latest technologies on your boom trucks and how do they improve operations on jobsites?
Our goal is to help crews work smarter, not harder while keeping safety front and center, so we’ ve packed our boom trucks with performance enhancing features. Those include DynaSmooth hydraulic controls for smooth, precise control; an ultra-low chatter boom design so the boom doesn’ t shake as much and two stage vertical outriggers to save time and reduce the risk of injury when setting up and tearing down by reducing the amount of cribbing needed. We’ re also adding Bluetooth connectivity to many of our models to monitor machine functions and maximize uptime.

Q:

What developments are underway to electrify the operation of cranes on boom trucks?
We’ re working on hybrid systems that can run on battery power for quieter, more fuel-efficient operation, which is especially useful in urban areas or on environmentally sensitive jobsites. Fully electric systems are on the horizon and we’ re collaborating with some forward-thinking partners to make it happen when the market is ready.

Q:

What is your outlook for the boom truck market?
We’ re optimistic. We’ re seeing solid demand from key industries like utilities, telecom and construction. A lot of that is being driven by infrastructure investments, whether it’ s modernizing the grid, expanding broadband access or just keeping up with new construction projects.
On top of that, fleets are upgrading their equipment to keep up with tighter regulations and demands for safer, more efficient machines. While things like supply chain challenges and economic uncertainty are still factors, the essential nature of these industries keeps demand steady.
