Attendees explore more than 1,500 exhibits, showcasing everything from technology to equipment.
with manufacturers and suppliers showcasing machinery, robotics and eco-friendly materials.
A major highlight was the showcase of concrete 3D printing, carbon capture for cement production and the latest advancements in robotic equipment designed to boost jobsite productivity and safety.“ This year’ s show offered exhibitors that were focused on 3D printing, drones or artificial intelligence along with educational offerings geared to those topics,” said Steven Pomerantz, the show’ s senior marketing manager.
Laying the Groundwork for the Future
While technology and innovation took center stage and were the stars of the show, educational sessions on attracting and retaining the next generation of workers
was also of avid interest.
Dodge Construction Network tackled that topic, citing workforce shortages in construction as a growing challenge, worsened by the industry’ s low appeal to new hires. With a significant portion of current workers( 31 %) due to retire soon, according to Dodge, and taking valuable knowledge and experience with them, it exacerbates the problem, the company said.
In its session, Dodge presented findings from its latest study, comparing what contractors think with insights from the potential workforce. To support skill development of the next gen builders, the Mason Contractor’ s Association of America hosted the Masonry Skills Challenge, consisting of first-, secondand third-year apprentices showcasing their expertise in a surprise project without any preparation or assistance.
